What We Offer

We offer a B.A. or B.S. in both communication studies and journalism as well as an M.A. in communication studies. Our degree programs provide a broad study of the field of communication while giving students an opportunity to focus on a chosen area of emphasis. Through engaged-learning curricula, our programs prepare a diverse spectrum of students to enter a wide range of professions in communication, journalism and related fields.

  • media convergence
  • public relations

Students in either undergraduate degree program can select from an innovative array of courses that allows them to specialize in their area(s) of interest. Consult with the undergraduate program advisor about selection of courses and degree requirements.

The M.A. in communication studies has a long, distinguished history and an outstanding reputation. We provide a broad-based program of advanced study in communication that includes:

The M.A. curriculum is designed to foster the intellectual development of our students by providing historical and analytical insights into the structure, functions, processes and significance of communication in social, economic, political and professional relationships.

Students in all degree programs study with distinguished faculty who excel in teaching, research, artistry and engagement. The department has fully updated labs available to all majors to support student research and artistry. Each student has access to personalized advising, one-on-one faculty mentorship and numerous engaged-learning opportunities
