CISLL will be sponsoring our Fourth Annual Faculty and Graduate Student Poster Session as part of our spring seminar series.  This year the poster session will be held in conjunction with the Graduate Student Research Association’s 2013 Conference.  The purpose of this poster session is to give us an opportunity to come together and learn about the exciting research, scholarship, and outreach activities that CISLL affiliates are conducting.  By hosting the Poster Session in tandem with the GSRA Conference, we hope to foster greater collaboration among the participants of both events who may not otherwise have a chance to network and interact.

Posters can relate to any aspect of language or literacy and may involve research or outreach endeavors. Last year’s poster session was very successful. Posters represented a broad range of projects headed up by both faculty and advanced graduate students.

This year’s poster session will be held on April 27 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Regency Room of the Holmes Student Center.

Some faculty and students may be unfamiliar with poster presentation formats. Posters are a common presentation format in some of the fields associated with CISLL.  The poster session will be informal.  If you or your students have a poster that was recently presented at a professional meeting, then this is an opportunity to share that work with the NIU community. If you do not have an existing poster, there is no need for elaborate poster boards. One could simply print out and post power-point slides.  Media Services also provides a template that can be used to design a poster.  This conference poster template can be accessed at http://www.niu.edu/graphicstandards/templates/index.shtml.

Both faculty and advanced graduate students are invited to participate. If you do not plan to present, you are still welcome to attend the session. If you or your students are interested in participating, please contact us at cisll@niu.edu to RSVP by April 12, 2013. If you plan to present, please include the names of the persons presenting, their academic departments, and the title of the poster.

Whether you present a poster or not, we hope you will take advantage of this exciting event.
