        Investigating the Herbaceous Understory Species in the Deciduous and Boreal Forests

My thesis work will investigate the herbaceous understory species in both the deciduous, and the boreal forests of Central Ontario’s Lake Superior Provincial Park.  The project will include a general description of the phenology, density, and cover of the understory species in both forests.  I will also be comparing the photosynthetic ability of these herbaceous species in response to their unique soil, light, and nutrient properties.  In addition, I will be using data obtained from the main project to compare the photosynthetic ability of deciduous understory species in a manipulated and non-manipulated temperature and moisture regime.
