Endowed Professor in College of Business, Marketing
For nearly three decades, Denise Schoenbachler has been a respected leader, visionary and mentor to women at NIU.
In 2006, Schoenbachler became the first female dean of NIU’s College of Business. Over the next 10 years, Schoenbachler established a culture of teamwork and excellence, always leading by example. Among many contributions to the college, she was instrumental in creating the Women’s Leadership Initiative, a ground-breaking program that promotes women in business and inspires a future generation of Huskie leaders.
“This group of women learn what it truly means to be a woman in the business world,” said NIU business student and member, Danielle Probasco. “I am grateful to learn from Denise and the powerful leaders she brings in to our meetings; I have learned so much about how to build myself into a true leader.”
Currently a professor of marketing and adviser of NIU’s Women in Business Professions organization, Schoenbachler’s research interests are in women’s leadership topics, specifically challenges women in academia face regarding student perceptions and expectations.
An Endowed Professor in the College of Business, Schoenbachler’s efforts in providing innovative curriculum, raising scholarship funds and creating network opportunities for alumni to mentor female students continues to make NIU an excellent choice for women to study business.
