Consultants face some realistic communication challenges when working in a hosting department. The faculty must be reminded of the consulting service, which can be achieved through memos, posters, and telephone calls. These are the administrative duties that consultants do to maintain their presence within the departments.
Faculty members are often extremely busy, and so the consultants must not assume that the hosting department will maintain a constant flow of communication to faculty and students. Also, the most obvious details must not be overlooked: Secretaries and office staff in the English department and the hosting departments need notification of office locations and hours, pertinent telephone numbers, and so forth, so that they can direct communications accordingly.
