Reading Accuplacer for New Nursing Students

If you're applying to the NIU School of Nursing, you must meet the school's standard for reading comprehension. If you have an ACT reading score of 24 or higher or an SAT evidence-based reading and writing score 570 or higher, you are considered to have met the standard. If you have an ACT reading score of less than 24 or an SAT evidence-based reading and writing score of less than 570, you will need to take the Reading Accuplacer exam.

This computer-based exam measures your ability to understand what you read and should take you less than one hour to complete.

You may take the exam twicewith no minimum interval between attempts, but any scores after the second attempt will not be considered in our admission decision.

You can register online to take the exam at NIU Testing Services for a fee of $30.

You can also take the exam at the following community colleges. Exam times, availability and fees vary by school. Contact the school to register.
