Hi Huskie!
How will you set intentions for a strong semester as you’re attending your first fall classes?
As I shared last week, the key to success on campus is getting engaged early. President Lisa Freeman offered some perfect advice Monday in the Northern Star on what that looks like!
Here are some ideas on how you can make the most of her three tips — caring about the pack, getting involved and asking for help:
Care About Your Fellow Huskies and Protect the Pack
- Masks — Be sure to wear yours in all indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status.
- Pfizer Update — NIU students who received a Personal Exemption while vaccinations were under Emergency Use Authorization status should move forward with getting vaccinated now that the Food and Drug Administration has approved the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Proof of vaccination will be required to register for Spring 2022 semester courses.
- Vaccination Clinics — Two clinics will be held next week on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 1 and 2, from noon to 3 p.m., in MLK Commons next to the Holmes Student Center. Take advantage now so you are fully vaccinated when class registration opens!
Find Ways to Get Active and Involved on Campus
- Participate in Family Weekend — Your family is part of the pack, too! Encourage your crew to register so they receive all the most up-to-date information. A few highlights include a Meet 'n' Greet with President and Provost, Tailgate and Huskie Football game, and a Pancake Breakfast with the Student Government Association.
- Don’t miss out on a chance to rush the field for NIU’s first home football game of the year — Register today, so we can ensure we have the 150 students needed to make this exciting tradition happen!
- Didn’t catch that organization you were hoping to join at the Involvement Fair? No problem — Check out our more than 200 student organizations on HuskieLink and find one that works for you!
