Hi Huskies!
The semester’s last month is unbelievably busy, so make time for your classes and yourself.
Whether you’re graduating this spring, enrolled for the summer term or taking a break until fall, here’s how you can maximize your time on campus.
Go to something.
What are you doing this afternoon? Stop by the OASIS area in the Holmes Student Center from 1-4 p.m. to Make and Take a personalized intention bracelet, or an air plant next Wednesday!
Did you know it’s a week to Spring into Wellness with daily activities from Student Wellness?
Don’t miss the last Night at Holmes event of the spring semester on Friday, April 8 at the HSC.
For the first time ever, our team is turning Club 1895 into a casino, and favorites like caricatures, crafts, bingo, prizes and food are back.
You have your pick of events through the end of the spring with a full calendar every day at NIU. There’s a lot on the horizon for fall, too, like September’s DeKalb Corn Classic 10K and 5K run.
Be a student leader.
The results are in from last week’s Student Government Association elections. I hope you’ll join me in congratulating your newly elected Huskie leaders.
There are so many ways to be someone who brings others together to advance a cause. It could be as simple attending the Communitywide Cleanup through NIU Cares on April 22.
Or, apply to be part of the leadership team for the Huskie Food Pantry this fall. Want to go all in? You can even minor in social change leadership with any major as a Huskie!
Being involved pays — you can even win a $20 gift card to Starbucks for giving your feedback in an anonymous 15-minute survey about NIU’s climate, culture, strengths and opportunities!
Check your email for details about the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access (IDEA) survey.
Plan ahead this week.
Have you registered for classes yet? Make a goal to look up your enrollment date in MyNIU, and download Navigate Student to keep track of important to-dos. Full instructions are in your inbox!
Are you graduating? Please remember that the deadline to RSVP online and reserve tickets for Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 14 is coming quickly this month on Sunday, April 24.
No matter where you are on your path to a degree, it’s a good time to contact Career Services. They can advise you on everything you need to land a summer internship, campus job or future career.
When I check in again mid-April, we’ll be just over two weeks from final exams. I encourage you to get wholly involved in your own success as we push through this final month.
Go Huskies!
