Hello, Huskie families!
Can you believe the end of the semester and fall commencement are less than two months away?
Whether your Huskie is continuing their studies or getting ready to graduate, their next steps will be here before you know it.

Class Registration and Commencement
|
|
Fall Undergraduate Commencement is scheduled for Dec. 12. If your student is graduating, final details will be posted this month on NIU's Commencement website.
If your student is continuing in January, they have just over a couple of weeks to make sure they're ready to register when spring 2022 enrollment opens in November.
In addition to fulfilling the requirement of obtaining a COVID-19 vaccine, Huskies should check MyNIU. They can make sure they don't have holds on their account, look up their enrollment appointment date, and search for classes.

Care and Connection for Your Student
|
|
Want to let your Huskie know you're thinking of them before the holidays? Send a care package of Halloween snacks or other favorite treats their way!
Did they miss our popular reprise of A Night at Holmes at the beginning of October? The finale of this semester series will be Friday, Dec. 3 at the Holmes Student Center.
In the meantime, the NIU events calendar is full of fall events at the student center and across campus.

NIU Safe App: Must-Have Security Features
|
|
As the days get shorter and your student is out walking in the dark more often, please encourage them to download the NIU Safe app!
Just a few features of this complimentary app are:
-
Friend Walk, a feature students can use to share their location with a friend who can follow along virtually to their destination.
-
Safe Walk, which allows Huskies to send their route to a police dispatcher who will monitor their progress as they walk home.
-
Mobile Blue Light, an alarm that alerts police to respond to a student's location if trouble arises.
You'll hear from me again before the end of this month, but you can get in touch anytime by replying to this email or calling the Center for Student Assistance at 815-753-8300.
Go Huskies!
