Dear Huskie families,
Happy New Year! We hope you and your student enjoyed winter break and took some time to relax and celebrate the end of a successful fall semester. This past year gave us so many moments to celebrate, and we're eager to make the most of 2023. As we welcome your student back to campus, we invite you to join us for a quick look back at 2022 – one of our best years yet.

It's Scholarship Time
|
|
Please encourage your student to visit MyScholarships, NIU's convenient scholarship application system, if they haven't yet. At MyScholarships, your student can easily search and apply for multiple competitive awards available based on academic merit, service, areas of study, athletics and much more. A common deadline for these scholarships is Jan. 31.
Some scholarships may have later deadlines, but your student is encouraged to complete a general application before Jan. 31 each year to be considered for the majority of our scholarships.

Spring Semester Parking Permits
|
|
Is your student returning to campus with a car? Here's what they need to know about parking permits.
-
Student permits are available for the semester or year. Your student also can purchase a temporary permit for daily, weekly or monthly parking.
-
All permits are virtual and must be purchased using our online system.
-
Permits are available for students in yellow, orange and green. Yellow permits ($70 for spring semester) are designated for commuter students and those living in Northern View. Orange permits ($70 for spring semester) are available for students living in Neptune, Gilbert, Grant, Patterson or Stevenson. Green permits (free) are available for remote parking.
-
Students may purchase only one permit. You can register an additional vehicle on your permit for a maximum of two vehicles.
-
Permits may not be loaned, traded or sold.
