We hope you'll encourage your Huskie to explore campus and DeKalb before the fall term begins. They'll find new dining options, identify their favorite hangout areas in the Holmes Student Center and check out Huskies Books and Gear to get supplies for the school year.
Thanks to regular shows and enriching events in the HSC and across NIU, there's always something to do — movie and craft nights, open mics and karaoke, bingo and bowling, and more. If your student hasn't already, it's a great idea for them to join their NIU Facebook group. That's where Huskies can learn about activities and resources, make friends and find roommates.
See NIU for yourself with special universitywide celebrations like Homecoming. Our traditional Family Weekend, also coming back this fall Sept. 10-12, invites you to get in on the fun with your Huskie. Relax to a movie, move with a 5K, take in a Huskie football game and have refreshments with President Freeman and Provost Beth Ingram. We'll send more details soon.

As we shared with you at the beginning of July, we require a COVID-19 vaccine for students who will live in residence halls or participate in face-to-face classes or in-person research or artistry this fall semester at any NIU location. Huskies who submit proof of their COVID-19 vaccination on time before the term begins are eligible to receive a $100 incentive.
Your student can now submit proof of their COVID-19 vaccination or request their exemption. Huskies planning to live on campus should share their records with NIU or have an approved exemption by their move-in date. All other students have until Friday, Aug. 20.

Has your Huskie registered for classes in MyNIU and finalized their housing plans yet? They should keep checking their email for reminders and requirements regarding the fall semester. If your student will live on campus, they’ve recently received important information about their next steps for move-in.
You can expect regular communications to resume as we move into August. In the meantime, we’re always here if you need to reach out!
