NIU has named Charlie Fey, Ed.D., a national leader in promoting student success on college campuses, as the university's interim vice president for Student Affairs.

Fey comes to NIU with more than 40 years of experience, including 23 years as the chief student affairs officer at five different institutions. He also has served in enrollment management and residential-life leadership capacities.

Among his previous posts, Fey held positions as vice president for academic support and student affairs at New Jersey Institute of Technology; vice president for student engagement and success at the University of Akron; vice president for student affairs at the University of Maryland Baltimore County; and dean of students at the University of Texas at El Paso.
