Siyu Tao is a statistics major from China
How did you learn about NIU, and why did you choose to attend?
It's a program between NIU and my college in China, so I spent my first college year in China and then transferred. When I went to my college in China, they told me about NIU. I'd never been abroad before, and I like the U.S.
What do you like about our campus and community?
The dining room and of course the Holmes Student Center. It serves great food.
Would you recommend NIU to others and why?
It's a great environment, once you come here and you get to mingle with the students around you.
What’s a general piece of advice you’d give to someone starting college?
If you’re an international student like me, I recommend having a driver's license. Then you can drive the first two or three months when you come here, and your life will be easier.
What is up next for you after your time at NIU? Any career aspirations you would like to share?
I plan to apply to graduate school for a statistics program, and I'm going to spend another two years studying in the U.S.
