What is your major, and why did you choose your field of study?
My major is Special Education, Learning Behavior Specialist 1. I chose this field of study because of my brother. He has high-functioning autism and has had some of the best teachers and some of the worst. I want to be that teacher showing my students they can do anything they put their mind to.

How did you learn about NIU, and why did you choose to attend? 
My friend was originally going to go to NIU, and I applied with her but didn't end up going to NIU. I decided to leave my first college at the last second, and remembered how most of the teachers I looked up to went to NIU and how they loved it. During my transfer period, all of the staff were so helpful and made me feel like NIU was an excellent fit for me.

What do you do for fun in your spare time?
I am an intern at a therapeutic riding barn; I have been an intern here for the past four years, and it’s another reason why I wanted to become a special education teacher.

What is up next for you after your time at NIU? Any plans you would like to share?
Hopefully to be teaching in my old school district. But my dream is to be teaching in a third-world country where students with special needs have a harder time getting the education they deserve.

Would you recommend NIU to others and why?
I would recommend NIU to others because of the professors and the friends you will make. In my first week here at NIU, so many students came up to me and helped me.
