Why did you choose NIU?
When I first applied to NIU, I originally had my heart set on a different university. However, when I visited NIU for an Admitted Students Day I instantly fell in love with the campus and the faculty I met. I ended committing to NIU that same day that I visited!
What are you studying and why?
I am a double major in History and Political Science with minors in Economics and Southeast Asian Studies. I chose these fields of study because they touch on most aspects of international law, foreign policy, and diplomacy. I am also a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) recipient from the U.S. Department of Education for the study of Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language).
What do you like most about NIU?
My favorite thing about NIU is the supportive Huskie community. We have such a diverse range of students, faculty, and activities that it creates a welcoming atmosphere to try new things and meet new people every day.
Who are your favorite professors and why?
This is such a difficult question because I love all of my professors! If I had to narrow it down, my favorite professor is Dr. Beatrix Hoffman from the Department of History. I met Dr. Hoffman my first week on campus through the Research Rookies Program and she has been my number one role model on campus since that day. Dr. Hoffman is one of the most passionate professors I have ever met and always puts students first.
