Why did you choose your field of study? I like counting numbers!
How did you learn about NIU, and why did you choose to attend?
My previous college in China, Anhui University of Finance and Economics, has a relationship with NIU so I had an opportunity to attend.
Are you involved in any activities at NIU? What else do you do for fun/hobbies in your spare time?
I have been involved in many activities, from community service to Opportunities and Ice Cream. I like cooking and jogging in my spare time, and also watching YouTube videos for entertainment.
What has been your favorite event at NIU, and why?
My favorite event at NIU is community service—you feel connected to community while helping with your own contribution. I also have a lot of fun working with other volunteers.
What has your experience inside the classroom been like at NIU?
I am involved in the University Honors Program of NIU, which allows me have more contact with my professor and do some research deeper in my class independent. I’ve gained a lot from the honors program.
What is something you have experienced at NIU that you will be able to take with you into future endeavors in your field?
There are lots of skills and experiences I think will help me in a future career path. I learned how to do teamwork, presentations, and use problem-solving skills with my Experiential Learning Center project.
Would you recommend NIU to others and why? What’s a general piece of advice you’d give to someone starting college?
Yes, I like to recommend NIU to my cousins … My suggestion for freshmen is building a relationship between you and your college, by which I mean get yourself involved in kinds of activities and organizations.
What is up next for you after your time at NIU? Any career aspirations you would like to share?
I would like to an auditor in public accounting company. I feel like it’s challenging and demanding to be an auditor, but you will definitely feel satisfied solving real-world business problems.
