What is your major, and why did you choose your field of study?
My major is elementary education with a Spanish minor and an ESL (English as a Second Language) endorsement. I chose all of these to align with my goal as an educator. My overall goal is to provide a uniquely personalized education that each individual student deserves.
Why did you choose to attend NIU?
Once I arrived on campus for tours and Admitted Student Day, I fell in love with the campus. Going to NIU was the best decision I made for myself.
What do you like about campus and the DeKalb area?
My favorite part about NIU’s campus is the welcoming environment. While NIU might seem like a large campus to many, its personable characteristics make it smaller and more intimate. I value this because I feel as though I am fully accepted on this campus for who I am.
What has your experience inside the classroom been like at NIU?
Every experience that I have had in classes at NIU has been positive. I feel as though the teachers and professors are very responsive to my active presence in the classroom.
Would you recommend NIU to others and why? What’s a general piece of advice you’d give to someone starting college?
NIU would be the first and only recommendation I would give to someone. A general piece of advice would be to go to a school that you love because you’ll learn that you’re not only at school, you’re at home. NIU is my home and I love this university. I have grown so much at this wonderful school and cannot thank NIU enough for their dedication to my education and my future. My future really is NIU’s focus.
