For over 35 years, Outdoor Adventures (OA) has provided outdoor recreation experiences for NIU students, faculty, staff as well as service to the general public.
We provide a year-round program full of scheduled trips and events, a four-season rental center, and custom team building services that are available by request to any organized group.
We believe the outdoors has something special to offer everyone. We invite you to stop by and visit our Adventure Center, check out our selection of resources and let us help you spend more time enjoying the great outdoors. Subscribe to our email list to receive regular updates and local information.
If you would love to experience an outdoor adventure but the expense is your only barrier, we are now accepting scholarship applications. The maximum assistance available is 50 percent of the trip cost. Pick your adventure, then fill out the the Outdoor Adventure trip scholarship form.

An intiative started by student environmental organizations, Swap Don't Shop happens monthly as an opportunity for students and community members to swap clothing and some household items. Donations are accepted at the Student Recreation Center main desk. When you attend the event bring at least one clothing item or non-expired food item to donate to the Huskie Food Pantry.
