Important survey about participation in summer COVID-19 surveillance testing.
April 6, 2021

The university will offer voluntary COVID-19 surveillance testing on campus this summer, May 1 through July 31. If you are working on campus, are periodically on campus, or in DeKalb and would like to participate, please complete this survey by 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 16.

As a reminder, surveillance testing is only for those who are asymptomatic (i.e., not exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 infection). You are eligible to be part of the testing program regardless of your COVID-19 vaccination status.

The test used is the SHIELD saliva test. The test is free and will be administered by our partners at the Northwestern Medicine Student Health Center at NIU. The days of the week the testing will be offered are still being determined.

By indicating “yes” on the survey and providing your NIU email address, you will be notified when more information becomes available about the program and how to sign up.

There will also be a mandatory testing program this summer. You will be notified by May 1 if you are included in that required surveillance testing effort.
