March 19, 2020

I know this moment in time is new and challenging, and you must have many questions. Above all, thank you for your patience and understanding. It is disheartening for us all to have face-to-face instruction discontinued and your academic semester interrupted. With Huskie grit, I know we can get through this together.

I might not be able to ease any stress or frustration you might be feeling, but I can tell you that our aim is to communicate as openly and quickly as possible. Please know we're working tirelessly to address any unanswered questions.

It's vital that you keep reading your emails and checking our Housing and coronavirus (COVID-19 ) site for updates. Urgent information follows:

If you go:

If you stay:

-          We will most likely consolidate students remaining on campus into one or two housing complexes, and this may require students to move to new locations. More information on that will come soon.

-          We will attempt to offer the same level of staffing and hall services, as federal and state directives allow, but have had to modify some services. Please note the Holmes Student Center will close effective at 9 p.m. tonight. Dining will only be offering to-go meals that are pre-packaged. Counseling and Consultation Services remains available, but on a remote basis via phone only.

-          If you are not currently on campus, have no alternative housing and wish to move back in, we ask that you complete instructions to follow in the coming days. You must return to campus no later than Saturday, March 21, 2020.

-          Students remaining on campus will see a modest credit to their accounts to reflect changes for the remainder of the term.

If you need accommodations:

-          We recognize some of you may have special accommodation needs to be considered. Please email us directly if you need assistance with those accommodations at .

Services for students will continue to exist for the remainder of the spring semester, and we encourage you to visit campus-operations updates if that will help in your decision making.

We know this is a lot to take in. We've tried to address most questions on our website . You can also reach us at or 815-753-1525. The Center for Student Assistance at 815-753-8300 is also available as a call-in service during these uncertain times.

Thanks again for your patience.
