Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update March 14, 2020 Message send to students from Provost Ingram Dear Faculty Colleagues, Several messages have gone out today regarding our response to COVID-19. We know that closure of the K-12 system will impact many of you, your colleagues, our staff and our students. I wanted to make you aware of the message below, which we have sent to students, acknowledging their needs and unanticipated caregiving responsibilities. I also want to thank you for your flexibility and patience as we change how we operate during this unusual time. I know you will extend that flexibility and patience to our students. Thank you! Dear Students,
As the situation with COVID-19 evolves, I’m writing to affirm our continued commitment to you, our NIU students. In light of yesterday’s announcement by Gov. Pritzker, we want to share some additional information.
We recognize that a number of you are responsible for school-aged children and elderly friends or relatives. Balancing commitments to your studies, families and communities is always a challenge, even more so in the current environment. Please rest assured, we fully understand during this time that your personal well-being and your ability to care for anyone counting on you is critical. Our faculty members will strive to be flexible and responsive to your needs.
You received information yesterday about student services (housing, dining, counseling services, etc.), and you will receive information Monday about academic services (tutoring, advising, etc.). We will continue to update you on how to access the services you need.
With that in mind, please continue to read your email and pay attention to the NIU coronavirus website. We appreciate your patience. I am confident that, as a Huskie community, we will show our resilience and persistence.
Go Huskies!
