About Prevention Education and Outreach

Prevention Education and Outreach (PEO) is part of NIU's comprehensive approach to addressing negative behaviors that can be prevented. PEO educates NIU students, employees and other members of our community in recognizing and preventing sexual and domestic violence and misconduct. Through partnerships both on and off-campus, we work to coordinate and improve survivors' access to resources and services.

NIU is committed to educating the campus community and others about sexual misconduct awareness and prevention. We provide required training for students, required training for employees and offer workshops/presentations on several topics related to prevention and awareness.

Further, through outreach PEO provides training workshops to help organizations, municipalities, nonprofits and others prevent negative behavior in the workplace. The goal is to reduce sexual misconduct in its many forms, implicit/unconscious bias, discrimination, and other pervasive actions and bring awareness to the effects of these actions on others.
