Objective: Increase alignment of academic offerings and student preparation with workforce needs

Framing Question

How can we build grades 9-16 college and career pathways aligned to endorsement competencies in the four state priority areas - IT, Health Services, Manufacturing/Engineering, and Finance and BUsiness Services - in collaboration with regional employers? 


30 Day Outcomes

  • Develop plan for defining and scaling industry-based credentials in the four priority areas
  • Agree to statewide/regional language that defines what is not a pathway an what is a pathway in all of its parts


February 2018 Outcomes

  • Methods and incentives to increase the number of instructors qualified to teach CTE courses
  • Identification of one to two key industry credentials per priority area that are backed by regional employers
  • Identification of programs informed by employer needs and and return of employees for more training
  • Review of draft state pathway definition
  • Understanding of how the state definition is being operationalized at the community college and university levels
