We've turned our one-day winter conference into a monthly series of spring professional development events and added a special summer virtual institute. Now you have many opportunities to learn and earn PDUs when it's convenient for you.
Spring 2021 - Virtual STEAM Professional Development Series
PD on your time that fits your schedule. You choose from live online sessions, videos and one-on-one coaching for a total of ten hours of PD each month. Relevant, impactful, convenient for you. We’ll give you strategies you can use right away – in person, blended or online.
Cost: $159 per month or $599 for January–April
January: STEAM Essentials: Building STEAM Foundational Skills
Explore the foundational skills necessary to create a culture of STEAM learning. You’ll participate in challenges designed to build these skills while you learn how to incorporate the foundations into all content areas. Lead Team Members: Kerri Sosnowski and Ann Shult
February: Collaborative Inquiry: Using the Design Cycle Across the Curriculum
Find out how a hands-on design cycle can be used in all classrooms to promote persistence and productive struggle while building higher order thinking and problem-solving skills. Lead Team Member: Dr. Kristin Brynteson
March: Authentic Learning and PBL: Rigorous Content
Authentic learning connects classroom content to real-world problem solving. Learn to design and implement project-based lessons that align to standards, develop key employability skills and address real-world problems. Lead Team Members: Dr. Kristin Brynteson and Ann Shult
April: STEAM Stories: Fact AND Fiction
Explore how STEAM and ELA are interconnected. Use fiction and nonfiction texts to bring knowledge and skills alive for learners in a new and innovative way. Lead Team Members: Kerri Sosnowski and Hollie Rodriguez
Summer 2021 - Virtual Summer Institute
June 1-15, 2021
Cost: $159 per track or $299 for both.
Join us online this summer and learn new ways to look at STEAMing up your lessons and your classroom. Choose from two sessions or take them both. Each session runs for two weeks from June 1-15, and you'll earn 10 PDHs for each session you complete.
Track 1: STEAM Units: Lessons and Assessments
Learn to implement STEAM lessons that incorporate multiple disciplines to solve real-world problems. Rethink existing lessons or develop new lessons to meet your needs.
Track 2: New Ideas in STEAM Learning
Learn some new tips and tricks for STEAMing up your classroom. This session features fun, engaging guests in a range of fields.
