NIU STEAM Programs

We offer a variety of STEAM-related programs year round for kids of all ages - from pre-K to adulthood! Learn more by checking out our programs listed below and then contact us to RSVP to a program or to get involved in NIU STEAM.

Programs for Educators and Students

  • School Programs - Lab tours, explorations labs, road shows and faculty lectures for students K-12.
  • Huskie Hack - A 2-day coding challenge at NIU for middle school, high school and college students. 
  • STEM Read - Quizzes, trips and lesson plans for STEM-filled fiction and non-fiction for readers of all ages.
  • Professional Development - Workshops and coaching for STEAM educators at your school or on our campus.
  • College and Career Readiness - Northern Illinois P-20 Network's collaborative to raise educational achievement through regional action.

Programs for Families

  • STEMfest - Join us in October for a STEAM-filled day of excitement for people of all ages.
  • BLOCK Fest® - A fun way for young children to learn STEM concepts while they play. For ages 8 months to 8 years.
  • STEM Summer Camps - Residential and day camps in a variety of STEAM topics for grades 2-12.
  • Huskie Hack - A 2-day coding challenge at NIU for middle school, high school and college students. 

Programs for Community Members

  • STEM Cafés - Eat, drink and learn at our monthly STEAM-related lectures at community restaurants.
  • STEMfest - Join us in October for a STEAM-filled day of excitement for people of all ages.
  • STEM Summer Camps - Residential and day camps in a variety of STEAM topics for grades 2-12.
