Nick Ritter

Nick Ritter is a bassoonist and contrabassoonist based in Chicago. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Bassoon Performance and Music Theory from Northwestern University before continuing on to DePaul University where he completed a Master’s Degree in Bassoon Performance. His primary teachers have been Christopher Millard, David McGill, Bill Buchman, and Miles Maner.

Nick is highly sought after as a freelancer, regularly performing with the Chicago Symphony, Charleston Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, and Orchestra Iowa, along with several other local ensembles. A strong believer in the importance of contributing to the musical community, he teaches bassoon at NIU, Double Reed Techniques at Northwestern University, as well as lessons and theory classes at The People’s School of Music.
