During your time as a manager, you'll most likely experience the departure of an employee. They could leave your team due to resignation, retirement, dismissal or another type of separation. It's important for you to know what procedures to follow when an employee leaves their position.

Our departure checklist will help you keep track of what needs to be done. We also provide information on employee and department responsibilities regarding a departure.

If the departing employee is civil service, please complete the Employee Separation Form (PDF) and send to CivilServiceEmployment@niu.edu.
