The Latino Resource Center, in collaboration with De Mujer a Mujer, will host its ninth annual Women's Empowerment Conference on Saturday, April 3, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. This year's theme is Embracing Our Cultures: From Exception to Exceptional.

In order to take precautionary measures amid Coronavirus (COVID-19) spread, the conference will be held virtually.

This year's conference is sponsored by Adela de la Torre Latino Honor Society (ATLHS) and the Student Government Association (SGA)

What is the Women's Empowerment Conference?

The Women's Empowerment Conference is an annual event hosted by the Latino Resource Center and De Mujer a Mujer. The conference will focus on:

  • Providing women of color with personal and professional development needed to succeed in college
  • Cultivating the leadership skills that will prepare them for the working world
  • Education about the importance of maintaining their cultural heritage and well-being.

This conference will also provide social support, academic guidance and leadership opportunities that foster self-confidence, self-awareness, self-esteem and increase the retention and graduation rates of women of color at the high school and college level. Although this conference is designed to promote services specific to the needs of women of color, all college and high school women are welcome to attend the conference.
