Mission
The mission of "De Mujer a Mujer" (DMM) student organization is to provide social, cultural and academic support that will increase the retention and graduation rates of Latinas and all women at Northern Illinois University by providing programs, activities and leadership opportunities that foster self-confidence, self-awareness and self-esteem. This student organization is open to all women but it is specifically targeted towards Latina freshmen, sophomores and first-year transfer students.
De Mujer a Mujer meets weekly (and on some occasions biweekly) on Wednesdays from 5-6 p.m. at the Latino Center (location subject to change).
Program Objectives
- Establish a positive and professional support network for Latinas
- Promote education, career, personal and leadership development
- Increase cultural, gender role and service learning awareness

De Mujer a Mujer Is Celebrating 20 Years!
Greetings!
De Mujer a Mujer is celebrating 20 years of existence on campus and cordially invites you to attend its 20th anniversary celebration at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, in the Holmes Student Center, Regency Room.
De Mujer a Mujer is an organization at NIU first founded under the Latino Resource Center to increase student retention, promote leadership and foster community among Latinas and all women.
This celebration will have music, dancing, dinner and dessert! Awards will be presented to past and present leaders of De Mujer a Mujer, as well as recognition of event sponsors. Along with celebrating us, we would like to celebrate YOU! We will be compiling a 'digital yearbook' with photos you submit via the registration form from your time at NIU or with De Mujer a Mujer.
This event is free and open to current students and alumni. You must register at: go.niu.edu/DMM20YRS.

Check-in and Cost
Please bring a photo I.D.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. The event will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. This event is free and open to current students and alumni.
Registration
Advance registration is required. You can register at: go.niu.edu/DMM20YRS.
Once you register, you will be sent an email with details about the event at least one week prior to the event date.
Cancellations
Substitutions of registrants may be made, without penalty, any time prior to the event's commencement. However, if you do not have a substitute for the registrant, we ask that you cancel at least one week (October 28, 2022) prior to the event date to allow other students, alumni and guests on the waitlist to be able to attend.
What to Wear and Bring
All guests should wear formal attire for the event. Please bring a photo I.D.
Directions
The event will take place in the Holmes Student Center, Regency Room at NIU’s main campus. The building is located at the corner of Normal Road and Lucinda Avenue.
Parking
You can park in visitor parking. However, you are not allowed to park in any of the following spaces: pay station, reserved and any or at all times spaces. Visitors with a state-issued handicapped license plate or placard may park in any designated handicapped parking space.

Qualifications
- Must be a full-or-part-time student entering in fall 2022 or spring 2023.
- Must be available to meet on Wednesdays from 5-6 p.m. throughout the academic year.
- The application deadline is Sunday, January 26, 2023.
