NIU Law Review Moving Online Journal to Huskie Commons

The Northern Illinois University Law Review is pleased to announce the integration of the review’s Online Journal into the Huskie Commons system. Huskie Commons is a digital service that collects, preserves, and distributes digital material from scholars within the Northern Illinois University community. The title of the online journal, effective immediately, is the Northern Illinois Law Review Online.

The integration will take place over several weeks during the months of June and July, and should be completed prior to the first day of classes for the 2017-2018 academic year.

This integration gives the review several benefits, including:

  • Indexing works on Google Scholar--a service not previously available to articles published in the online journal
  • Placing articles in an archived system and having multi-server security that ensures long-term preservation
  • Access to articles in the collection dating from the first online appearance in 2008 through the current issue

The review looks forward to integrating further technological updates that will produce an exceptional and relevant resource throughout the 21st century and beyond.

The Northern Illinois University Law Review is a student-edited journal that publishes articles designed to assist the legal community and to stimulate critical discussion of current legal, policy, and social issues. Members of the law review participate in an intensive two-semester writing and production program designed to develop writing and editing skills. The review publishes three print issues per year, with the third issue being dedicated to a specific legal or social issue the membership has collectively decided to highlight. Referred to as the "symposium" issue, this issue is released in conjunction with a one-day conference comprised of presentations, round-table discussions and keynote addresses by experts on the symposium topic.
