Heidi Frostestad Kuehl joined the NIU College of Law in 2014 as an Associate Professor of Law and Director of the David C. Shapiro Memorial Law Library. Professor Kuehl’s primary research and teaching interests are in foreign, comparative, and international law, international business transactions, law and technology, and basic and advanced legal research.

Prior to joining the NIU College of Law, Professor Kuehl was the Associate Director for Research and Reference Services and Foreign, Comparative, and International Law Library at Northwestern University School of Law’s Pritzker Legal Research Center in Chicago. After graduate school and law school, she worked at the Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee as a law librarian and an adjunct professor. Professor Kuehl has also taught international legal research at the John Marshall Law School (Center for International Law). During law school, Professor Kuehl was the Executive Editor of Publication of the Valparaiso University Law Review, studied abroad in Cambridge, England, was a member of the International Law Society, and also participated in the Jessup International Moot Court team. Professor Kuehl is a graduate of the Valparaiso University Law School and received her B.A. in Music Performance and English from Luther College in Decorah, IA. She also received her M.A. in Library and Information Science from the University of Iowa while working at the University of Iowa College of Law Library.

Therese Clarke joined the law library faculty in 2000. She provides legal reference assistance to faculty, students, and other library users. Additionally, she teaches legal research and supports law faculty and students in their use of instructional technology. She has worked as a reference librarian in both law school and law firm settings. She is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries, the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries and serves on various committees within the Chicago Association of Law Libraries.  She has presented and prepared materials for the American Association of Law Libraries Annual Meeting.  She is admitted to the Illinois Bar.

Sharon Nelson joined the Law Library in 2006. She is responsible for the implementation and use of all modules of the Voyager integrated library system, with particular responsibility for serials and acquisitions. In addition to her previous work in library systems, her experience includes positions in information technology and medical librarianship. She has been actively involved in the statewide I-SHARE library consortium and with the annual international conference for users of the Voyager system. She served as the interim Webmaster for the College of Law from November of 2008 through January 2010.

Clanitra Stewart Nejdl joined the NIU College of Law Library faculty in 2014. She provides legal reference assistance to faculty, students, and other library users. In addition, she teaches legal research. Prior to joining the Law Library faculty, she practiced law at the South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center, where she provided local and statewide policy advocacy on behalf of low-income communities in the areas of affordable housing, homelessness, hunger, and community economic development. She was also an attorney at the Georgia Legal Services Program, where she represented indigent clients in a variety of civil cases. Clanitra is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries, the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries, and the Chicago Association of Law Libraries. She is admitted to the Georgia Bar and the South Carolina Bar.

Matt Timko joined the NIU College of Law Library faculty in 2017. As a Reference and Instructional librarian, Matt assists with legal research for faculty, staff, students, the public, and other university patrons of the law library, as well as instructs Basic Legal Research courses. As an Academic Technologies librarian, Matt will coordinate the use of academic technologies between the library and the faculty, and integrate the use of legal technologies into the law curriculum. Finally, as the Outreach Services librarian, Matt works with the broader NIU and legal communities to create an interactive, interdisciplinary and collaborative environment where all parties will use library resources for greater academic and legal knowledge creation.
 
Prior to joining NIU, Matt served as a staff member at Loyola University Chicago’s School of Law library. During that time, Matt worked with faculty, staff and students to locate resources within and outside of the Law Library while being active in the Chicago Association of Law Libraries, Mid-America Association of Law Libraries and the American Association of Law Libraries. Matt is admitted to the State of Illinois Bar, and has been a member of the Chicago, DuPage and Kane County Bar Associations.
