Regional Science Expo 9 (Region 5)

The Regional Science Expo 9 (Region 5) is an educational opportunity for students to share their research with each other and the community, as well as an excellent teaching tool to meet Illinois Learning Standards.

IJAS Region 5 is an affiliate fair of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Eligible projects are judged at the Region 5 Project Exposition on March 23, 2019. Projects must meet eligibility requirements, which includes safety and proposal review of the project/investigation by the Region 5 scientific review committee (SRC) prior to start of the investigation.

Students begin their research and design projects supported locally by their schools, teachers and parents. Students advance to their regional expositions, which select the top students to advance to the state exposition. Student presentations will include the following topics:

  • Astronomy and Astrophysics
  • Biochemistry
  • Cellular and Molecular Biology
  • Consumer and Behavioral Science
  • Engineering
  • In addition, the IJAS State Exposition will feature an essay and artistic design competition.
