Pregnancy

If you're pregnant, you can request accommodations to help you perform your job duties or apply for a job. You're also protected from discrimination, harassment or retaliation due to your pregnancy.

After your child is born, you can add them to insurance and take time off work. Read more about employment and the birth of a child.

Requesting Accommodations

If you're an employee or job applicant, you can request accommodations for your pregnancy. The ADA coordinator will contact you (and your supervisor, if appropriate) to determine reasonable accommodations. You'll need to provide medical documentation.

Refer to the employment and accommodations policy for more information.

Protection from Discrimination

At NIU, you're protected from discrimination based on pregnancy and related conditions.

If you believe you've been discriminated against or harassed because of pregnancy, you may file a complaint. For more information, refer to the Nondiscrimination, Harassment and Retaliation Policy.
