The Master of Arts in Teaching specialization in elementary education with initial licensure prepares students who are not currently licensed as a teacher to receive their initial educator licensure (teaching certification) and become teachers in elementary schools (1-6). Students who did not have an undergraduate major in education may need to complete deficiency requirements established by the department.
