Professional Background

Greg is currently head of the Division of University Legal Services and chief legal officer of the University, Parliamentarian, Counsel to the Board of Trustees of Northern Illinois University and Board Liaison for the Board's Ad Hoc Committee on Governance and the Compliance, Audit, Risk Management and Legal Affairs Committee.  Greg is a member of the Presidents Cabinet and the President's Operations Cabinet.

Prior to being appointed as Acting Vice President and General Counsel, Greg had been a member of the Office of General Counsel’s University Legal Services staff since 2002 where he has previously served as Deputy General Counsel, University Counsel, Associate University Counsel, Assistant University Counsel, and Assistant to the Corporation Counsel. 

Previously, Greg served as a Graduate Assistant in the Office of the President, assisting the Vice President for University Relations. He also was assigned to work for the Illinois Court of Claims as an employee of the Illinois Secretary of State. For three years, he also worked as a staff member in the Office of State Representative David Wirsing.

Greg is currently a member of the Advisory Council for the Department of Political Science and was formerly a mentor for the NIU College of Law. 

Greg has been recognized with the Supportive Professional Staff ("SPS") Certificate of Recognition in 2004, 2010, 2017 and a Supportive Professional Staff Award for Advocacy in 2014.
