Financial Engagement Scholarship

Our financial engagement scholarship is designed to encourage you to use our services and plan for your financial future. In order to be considered for one of five $500 scholarships, you must meet with a financial advisor and complete a financial engagement task. Recipients are selected with monthly drawings.

Please note the following:

  • Open to all students regardless of status or classification.
  • Scholarships are available for the fall 2024 semester. They’re considered a financial resource toward the total amount of aid you’re able to receive and will be applied to eligible charges.
  • You may not be eligible to receive additional aid or may have an adjustment of aid, such as a reduction of loans.
  • You may not receive multiple financial engagement scholarships in the same semester.
  • The scholarship may not be applied toward a past due balance.

Follow these steps to be considered for a scholarship:

  1. Meet with a financial advisor during the spring 2024 semester to discuss your financial goals and determine a financial engagement opportunity for you to complete.

We’ll select up to five recipients throughout the fall.

Testimonial

Being an international student, I was under the assumption that I do not qualify for any scholarships offered at NIU. However, I set up an interview with Jon as soon as I paid the first installment of my tuition just to get some advice on how best to manage my expenses along with the cost of attending NIU. Not only did Jon help me build a budget to structure my living expenses, but he also enlightened me to the various scholarships NIU offers that I am eligible for.
