Why did you leave Wisconsin to come to NIU?
I chose NIU because I knew it would help me build the best résumé possible and put me in the best position to succeed after college. I decided that NIU — with all its scholarship opportunities, numerous organizations, strong Greek life community and its great reputation — would be the best fit. The scholarships would allow me to focus on school and not worry about balancing work and my studies.

Why should other students come to NIU?
There are many reasons to come to NIU. My personal favorite is the athletics. Nothing beats waking up on a Saturday knowing it’s Huskie Gameday and enjoying tailgating before the football games. I also appreciate the quality residence halls, which allow for singles, doubles, or quads to fit your personal preference. The dining halls are also exceptional. Another part of NIU that makes it so special is the location. Being outside of the city of Chicago gives NIU students all of the perks of living in the city while maintaining the college town feel.

Is the education worth the tuition?
NIU’s value for the money is exceptional, and this is before any scholarships are applied, which only increase the value. In the engineering program, I have really appreciated how the professors teach the “what” and the “why” of the subject matter so that I can better understand the course content and apply it. NIU also does an excellent job of bringing employers to campus during the Job and Internship Fairs to help students get work placements after graduation.
