Hometown: Loveland, Colorado

Major: M.S.Ed., Kinesiology and Physical Education (Sport and Exercise Psychology Specialization)

Why did you choose NIU?
I chose NIU because it offered me the opportunity to simultaneously serve as a teaching graduate assistant and earn my master’s degree in kinesiology with a specialization in sport and exercise psychology. I was eager to gain teaching experience while also furthering my education in a way that would nicely complement my undergraduate degree in athletic training.

What was your biggest concern coming to NIU from another state, and was it resolved?
I think my biggest concern coming to NIU was being able to meet people, establish friendships and develop a supportive community. This concern was resolved after attending my classes and participating in my extracurricular activities. I have been blessed to get to know people from other states and countries!

What is NIU’s campus like?
NIU’s campus is easy to navigate, and it is really pretty — especially in the spring and the fall.

What do you love about NIU/Illinois?
I love the community of people I’ve been involved with since moving to Illinois. I also appreciate the opportunities that I have been given by professors to get involved in cool experiences.
