Why did you leave California to come to NIU?
I wanted to surround myself with a new environment and explore it on my own. Thanks to the overwhelmingly nice and supportive community at NIU, it was very easy to find my place. Almost immediately I made friends and started immersing myself in the school. With a culture so genuine and compassionate, I can gladly say coming to NIU was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
Is NIU meeting your expectations?
The professors here are distinguished professionals with real-world experience, and they know what is important to learn and what’s not. They work with you one-on-one to make sure you are interpreting the material correctly and applying it to real-world situations. On top of the fantastic education, NIU also provides many hands-on opportunities. Every semester the university hosts internship and career fairs for multiple majors, and now I’m an intern in the university’s Marketing Department. I am very fortunate to have a group of professionals who care so much about my future and success.
What is there to do at NIU?
There is plenty to do at NIU if you take the time to look. With hundreds of organizations, there’s a club for everyone, whether you’re into technology, sports, community service, or student government. Intramurals are always a great way to stay in shape and meet new people, or watch any number of Division I Huskie games. And you’ve got to go to Chicago. It’s only an hour away and there’s so much to do, from professional sports games to free museum tours. Your time at NIU is sure to be fun-filled and memorable.
