Carolyn Snyder

Viola, Violin - Apprentice 2

Carolyn Snyder is a graduate student at NIU working toward her Master of Music in Viola Performance, studying privately with Anthony Devroye. She holds Bachelor’s Degrees in both Instrumental Music Education and Viola Performance from Northern Arizona University.

Carolyn taught in public schools in the Phoenix area between her undergraduate and graduate studies, and continues to do so in Illinois through her graduate assistantship through the NIU School of Music and the Dutton Foundation. Carolyn is also a Suzuki registered teacher in Violin Books 1 and 2, and has been on the faculty of several music camps throughout Arizona. She has taught privately since 2007, while maintaining an active performance career.

Performances have included work with the Phoenix Symphony, West Valley Symphony, Arizona Pro Arte, Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra, Verde Valley Sinfonietta, as well as various community and school ensembles. She has competed in numerous solo and chamber competitions, most recently winning the 2013 Northern Arizona University Concerto Competition. Carolyn currently is playing with the NIU Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
