Mark Alletag

Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone - Associate

Mark Alletag received a bachelor's of music from NIU in 2008 where he performed with the NIU Jazz Ensemble and studied saxophone under Steve Duke. Upon graduating, Mark performed saxophone, flute, and clarinet in a variety of settings and genres aboard cruise ships while traveling abroad. More recently, Mark has worked as a stylistically diverse freelance musician in Chicago performing alongside national touring acts such as Blues Traveler, Blind Melon, and Counting Crows.

In addition to performing, Mark taught at Hinsdale Central High School from 2012 to 2016 where he would lead ensemble rehearsals and sectionals, teach four saxophone studio classes, and aid in the Advanced Placement Music Theory course while maintaining a private studio of saxophone, flute, and clarinet students. Many of Mark's students have gone on to achieve placement in IMEA District and State festivals in addition to admission and scholarship offers to undergraduate music programs throughout the country.

Currently, Mark is pursuing a master's degree in recording arts while serving as a graduate assistant to Dr. Thomas Bough aiding with the NIU Huskie Marching Band and Wind Symphony.
