High School Brass Seminar

2021 Summer in the Arts Camps Update

The High School Brass Seminar unfortunately will be canceled for 2021. We will be returning in 2022, so stay tuned!

Grades 8-12 (grade completion)

Designed for all brass players, the High School Brass Seminar is a four-day intensive workshop of masterclasses, rehearsals, lectures and performances. Directed by Tom Bough, the High School Brass Seminar includes many of the clinics and concerts from the Pokorny Low Brass Seminar plus special workshops, ensembles for each brass instrument and large brass ensembles.

Explore the amazing field of brass with world-class NIU brass faculty this summer! You'll learn while enjoying the following activities:

  • Performing in like-instrument ensembles and large brass ensembles.
  • Participating in masterclasses, group warmup and clinics.
  • Attending faculty recitals.
  • Lectures and performances from the faculty of the Pokorny Low Brass Seminar.

You can be a residential camper and stay in Gilbert Hall during the week.

Your experience will end with a special performance open to your family and friends.

We'll send you a packet of camp information in early June.

Registration fee: $575

You'll pay a $100 deposit when you register (unless applying for a summer camp scholarship).

You can register online or by mail.
