NIU Esports Club

Our NIU Esports Club is a vibrant and welcoming community of casual and competitive video gamers. Started in 2012, we're recognized by NIU Recreation and Wellness as an NIU Sport Club and we're a student-run organization.

Learn More about NIU Esports Club

Our video provides an excellent introduction to our club's philosophy and style of play. To learn even more, read an article about our club, membership and tournament play. We stream on and post updates and event info on our Facebook group.

Join NIU Esports

Per our club constitution, “the NIU Esports Club believes that video games and esports should be available to all players and endeavors to open the esports field up to collegiate students.” We welcome and teach new members regardless of experience or ability.

Membership is open to all fee-paying students, faculty and staff. You can join one of three tiers from playing video games socially to competing in regional tournaments. There's no cost for casual play and the fee is minimal to compete. To join, contact Riley, our club membership coordinator or sign up on HuskieLink.

Attend a Meeting

We host LAN parties, in-house games and tournaments, and viewing parties. Meetings are held during the school year every other Friday from 6-9 p.m. in the NIU Esports Arena in the Neptune North computer lab. Our club doesn’t meet in summer or when classes are not in session. Join our Facebook group to be alerted of meetings and other club events.

Compete in Club Tournaments

Our teams compete in several games including Hearthstone, League of Legends, Rocket League, Overwatch and Super Smash Brothers. 30-40 students compete on a regular basis. Our competitive teams recruit every semester for new players.
