Update Procedures

Each area of the university has a designated contact person who helps update the websites in that area, after receiving training from the web team. For assistance updating a website, get in touch with the appropriate department web contact.

  • Department web contacts: Follow the indicated update procedure for your role.
  • Faculty members: Learn about options for updating faculty sites.
  • New employees assigned to update NIU sites: Email webtraining@niu.edu to request training.

Preparing Content for Updates

Follow our content development guidelines as you prepare content for different kinds of updates:

  • Creating new pages: Provide complete, final text in a Word document. Don’t submit partial text or a draft.
  • Updating existing pages: Copy and paste the text from the current page into a Word document. Use the Track Changes feature to indicate desired changes.
  • Updating documents: Provide an updated, final document formatted using the sample Word document (DOCX).
