DeKalb County Health Department offering free vaccines on campus.
The DeKalb County Public Health Department will be on campus with their mobile unit to give free COVID-19 vaccinations. If you are not yet vaccinated, now is your opportunity! Come to the MLK Commons from noon to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1 or Thursday, Sept. 2 to get vaccinated. No appointments are necessary.
HRS now offering hybrid service model. Human Resource Services now offers a hybrid service model that provides customer service, both in person and virtually.
Walk-in hours for quick service items, like dropping off or picking up paperwork, will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Employees are strongly encouraged to schedule appointments in advance for both in-person and virtual access to HRS. Please use the form on the HRS service area page to ask a question or schedule an appointment. General questions can also be directed to humanresources@niu.edu or 815-753-6000.

Human Resource Services to partner with new background check vendor. Human Resource Services (HRS) is moving to a new background check vendor, HireRight. The planned rollout time for this enhancement is mid-September and background check requests will only be submitted online at that time. HRS and HireRight are offering three virtual training sessions via Zoom for employees with hiring manager access in PeopleAdmin.
The dates, times and links for the training sessions are: Tuesday, Aug. 31, 10 to 11:30 a.m. – Zoom Link Thursday, Sept. 2, 2 to 3 p.m. – Zoom Link Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1 to 2:30 p.m. – Zoom Link During the training you will learn about your login access, how to place an order, what the applicant experience is like, and how to monitor the status of a background check and view results.
Anyone with hiring manager access in PeopleAdmin is strongly encouraged to attend one of the three Zoom trainings. No pre-registration is required. Campus Meets Community Block Party welcomes students, faculty and staff The annual Campus Meets Community Block Party is back! It will take place on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Martin Luther King Commons and is free and open to all NIU students, faculty and staff. The Block Party is a chance for local businesses and nonprofits to welcome the NIU community back to campus each fall and to introduce all the DeKalb area has to offer.
