Update on NIU’s State Budget Appropriation
Executive Vice President and Prost Beth Ingram and Vice President for Administration and Finance and

Chief Financial Officer Sarah Chinniah recently communicated that both houses in the Illinois General Assembly approved the state’s FY22 budget and capital re-appropriations bill. As anticipated, NIU’s state appropriation will be held flat to the FY20 and FY21 levels ($87.8M), which accounts for approximately 20% of our revenue budget. All money for capital projects, such as the Health Informatics and Technology Center and the Northern Illinois Center for Community Sustainability, was also reappropriated. We are very appreciative of legislature’s actions and support of NIU and higher education. The bill will now go to the governor for his review and signature. Read more.

Applaud a Colleague

Applaud a colleague is a show of appreciation for those co-workers who go above and beyond. These are just a few of the employees throughout the university that go the extra mile:

• Megan Woodruff
• Pam Roesner
De’Marcus Hamilton
• Gail Jacky
