Reinstatement of accumulative sick leave benefit provisions – June 25, 2021

Requiring COVID-19 Vaccination for Students
President Freeman recently shared that, after careful review of the science, consultation with public health officials and great consideration for the health of every Huskie, NIU is adding the COVID-19 vaccine to our list of required vaccinations for students taking in-person courses or living on campus for Fall 2021. The science continues to show that the vaccines are safe and effective in not only protecting against COVID-19 but in reducing its severity and limiting its transmission. The benefits to our students’ health and well-being, as well as the communities in which they live, learn and work, are clear – and warrant that we take this action. Applaud a Colleague

Applaud a colleague is a show of appreciation for those co-workers who go above and beyond. These are just a few of the employees throughout the university that go the extra mile:

Parking Permits available for purchase

Parking permits for the 2021-2022 academic year are now available for purchase. Annual permits will be valid until July 31, 2022. Please display the permit as soon as you purchase your permit.

Motorcycle permits are also available for purchase. These permits are offered at a discounted rate for individuals who have purchased a vehicle permit (excluding green permits). If ordering both permits at the same time, be sure to order the vehicle permit first to ensure the discount is applied.

For those working a flexible work schedule, there are short-term and free parking options available. Short-term permits can be purchased online and options include daily, weekly and monthly permits. In order to take advantage of the free parking option, individuals must register their vehicle with Campus Parking Services. They will receive a green permit.
A map of all campus parking is available online.

While in-person permit sales will not be available, Parking Services offers two convenient ways to obtain your new permit:

• Online:  In order to respect social distancing guidelines, Parking Services strongly recommends permits be purchased using this option. Visit the Parking Services website and click on Buy Permits Online to complete your order. Permits will be mailed to your home address.

• By mail:  Complete the vehicle registration form and mail it to Parking Services, along with payment. Parking Services will mail the permit within three business days of receiving the order.  There is an additional $15 fee applied to all permits purchased through the mail, excluding reserved permits. Mail the completed form to:
