Updated Guidance for Bridge Phase
As the population of vaccinated residents grows and COVID-19 cases steadily decline, the State of Illinois is transitioning to the Bridge Phase of the Restore Illinois Plan. In consultation with our partners at the DeKalb County Health Department and using the latest federal and state guidance, the university is adopting the following protocols for the duration of this phase. The university will continue to closely monitor the situation and adjust plans accordingly as new public health guidelines emerge.

Resources for Teaching Remotely

Teaching Tip of the Week
Now more than ever, it is to grow and develop as online educators. We need to share with and learn from one another to build a community that values excellence in online teaching as we explore new strategies and tools.

The Online Teaching Symposium, scheduled for May 24-26, is designed for creating these opportunities. It is not another workshop or presentation. The Symposium is a multi-day celebration of our outstanding faculty and instructors, an opportunity to connect with your colleagues in new ways, and a dynamic learning experience you build to meet your personal learning needs.

What advice would you give to students currently attending NIU?
“Take your time to decide what you want to do. It’s okay if you don’t know right away. Talk to professors, attend clubs and organizations. Try as many things as you can so you don’t wonder if you missed out on something you might like. If you’re curious about something, explore it! My father impressed this upon me while I was growing up, and now I’m imparting it on my students.”

Assistant Professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering
