| What advice would you give to students currently attending NIU? “I will tell my students to follow their dreams and aspirations, and never be discouraged by any roadblocks or challenges in their career path. By persevering and working hard, they will be able to overcome the challenges and meet their goals, even if the path becomes convoluted for them.” Henna Muzaffar Assistant Professor, Nutrition and Dietetics |

Complete the Information Technology Campus Survey As noted in a message to campus on February 15, 2021, the university is partnering with Transforming Solutions, Inc. (TSI) to conduct a comprehensive review of the technology services offered to the campus community. The goal is to make sure students, faculty, staff, and visitors are receiving appropriate and dependable services that enhance experiences when they are on campus and when they access NIU’s academic and professional systems. Your input is critical. Please take a moment to take the 2021 Information Technology Campus Survey and offer thoughts on things such as classroom technology, tech support, availability of applications and services, wi-fi, response to remote workforce needs, and other IT components that are frequently used on campus.
Survey responses will be tallied anonymously by TSI and included in their closing report and recommendations. University leadership will review survey results and the closing report. Key findings, recommendations and comments shared will inform the university’s overall IT plans moving forward.
The 2021 Information Technology Campus Survey can be accessed until Friday, April 23
Participants Needed: Study on Higher Education Teachers and Teaching Online due to COVID-19 You are invited to participate in a study regarding how the modality of teaching (i.e., face-to-face, synchronous online and asynchronous online) influences higher education teachers’ instructional beliefs. This research study gathers information about your teaching self-efficacy, job satisfaction, perceived student non-verbal responsiveness and perceived student learning. This study includes an anonymous, IRB-approved survey and an external drawing to win $25. This study is being conducted by the research team of Rebekah Chiasson, graduate teaching assistant of communication studies and Mary Lynn Henningsen, professor of communication studies. You’re asked to complete this survey, which will take approximately 15 minutes. You’ll be asked questions that will support research objectives regarding varying teaching modalities, teacher job satisfaction and instructional beliefs. At the conclusion of the anonymous survey, you’ll be redirected to an external survey in which you can provide your name and email address if you wish to participate in a drawing for $25. Questions? Contact Rebekah Chiasson at rchiasson1@niu.edu.
