Forward Together Forward Scholarship deadline approaching Do you know outstanding students who have attended NIU for at one semester? Encourage them to apply for the Forward, Together Forward Scholarship.
Each year the Forward, Together Forward Scholarships are given to Huskies who highlight the diversity, strength and integrity of the NIU student body. Visit go.niu.edu/MyScholarships to view eligibility criteria and encourage students to apply by the Oct. 23 deadline.
NIU Recreation invites you to ‘invest’ We’re excited to share our new name with you. We’re now called NIU Recreation and we’re still your recreation, fitness, adventure and sport provider. NIU Recreation now operates as a part of the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics, and is participating in the annual fundraising campaign, Huskies Invest! We invite you to donate to help support the great programs and services we offer to students, faculty and staff. We have a separate fund that will directly support our student sport clubs. The campaign will run for one week from Monday, Oct. 19 through Friday, Oct. 23. We look forward to receiving your support! If you have any questions, please reach out to clagattolla@niu.edu.
LinkedIn Learning subscription to expire on Oct. 26 NIU’s subscription to the LinkedIn Learning professional development platform will expire on Oct. 26, 2020. Due to budgetary restraints, NIU will not be renewing the license beyond Oct. 26. If you are taking LinkedIn Learning courses for professional development, you should complete those courses before the expiration date. If you utilize LinkedIn Learning content in your academic courses, you will need to find or create alternative content to replace it. If you need assistance identifying alternative options, please reach out to the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning or your subject specialist Librarian within University Libraries.
Annual ethics and cybersecurity trainings now available The annual ethics training and cybersecurity training are now available in Blackboard. Access the trainings by logging in to Blackboard using your official NIU credentials. The trainings are accessible under Organizations in the left navigation.
The deadline for annual ethics training is Friday, Oct. 30 and the deadline for cybersecurity training is Saturday, Oct. 31. |

| NIU hosts UC Berkeley expert for virtual ‘Belonging’ events Northern Illinois University and the Northern Illinois Center for Nonprofit Excellence have joined forces with community partners in DeKalb and Rockford to offer intersectional conversations hosted by an international expert. First Presidential staff awards established (1984) For reasons not unlike those that brought about faculty awards, discussion about staff awards began around 1980. Four years later, after much debate about qualifications, creation of procedures, and recruitment of a selection committee, NIU conferred the first four presidential awards for operating staff excellence.
